Voice Recording for Erik Storey's "Nothing Short of Dying"

This week actor Jeremy Bobb was in to record VO for the new audiobook Nothing Short of Dying. The novel features a protagonist with lethal skills, whose mission to rescue his abducted sister pits him against a ruthless meth kingpin and his army of killer. Nothing Short of Dying, published by Simon and Schuster has been hailed one of the best new fiction thrillers of 2016. 

The book was written by Erik Storey, a former ranch hand, wilderness guide, and hunter turned author. He and his family live in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Voice Recording for Lauren Weisberger's "The Singles Game"

This week actress Heather Lind was in to record the narration for a new audio book for Simon and Schuster, The Singles Game. 

The novel is a tell-all about a tennis prodigy who, after changing coaches, suddenly makes headlines on and off the court. The Singles Game is written by Lauren Weisberger, the New York Times bestselling author of The Devil Wears Prada. 

Recording for the Actual Innocence Podcast

Sam Palumbo & Jason Flom 

This week Jason Flom, CEO of Lava Records, was in speaking for the Actual Innocence Podcast. The podcast tells the stories of people who served time for crimes they did not commit and is Sponsored by the Innocence Project. 

The Innocence Project, founded in 1992 by Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld, is a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals through DNA testing, and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.

Voice Over for Stephen King's "Cell"

Director, Tod "Kip" Williams came in to record voice over commentary for the film adaptation of Stephen King's, Cell. 

John Cusack stars in Cell as Clay Riddell, a man who is fighting against a mysterious mobile phone broadcast that transforms cell users into zombie killers. Riddell struggles to try and stop whoever is behind the attack, and reunite with his son with the help of Tom McCourt (Samuel L. Jackson) and Alice Maxwell (Isabelle Fuhrman). 

Music Tracking for Disney Junior's Vampirina

Michael Kooman and Christopher Diamond have been tracking music for the new Disney Junior show Vampirina. Kooman & Diamond are the music composers of the new series. 

Vampirina is inspired by Disney Publishing’s popular children’s book series “Vampirina Ballerina,” and tells the story of a young vampire girl who becomesthe new kid in town when her family moves from Transylvania to Pennsylvania.

Mixing for Univision's Flama - Becoming a Luchador

Adrien Thorstensen has been working the audio post on a new documentary with Univision, mixing the series Flama- Becoming a Luchador. The series follows Eric Ochoa, a youtube celebrity,  as he works to master the art of lucha libre, Mexican professional wrestling. The six episode series will be released later this spring on Flama.com, YouTube and Facebook.

New York City Independent Film Festival

Dubway had the pleasure of sponsoring the 2016 New York City Independent Film Festival. The team was invited to enjoy the wide array of films as well as meet with the individuals involved in their production. The festival took place from April 26th to May 1st at The Producers Club in Midtown.

Our staff attended the Virtual Reality seminar, where Mark Sternberg, of RevrieVR, explored the various considerations that film-makers must take into account when shooting content for virtual reality experiences. Included amongst these considerations was the various forms of spatial audio recording methods that are available, with an analysis of the benefits that each will have for different aspects of the VR media creation process. 

Dubway's Lo Boutillette attended the Music Licensing panel, hosted by John Joseph Andrucci and featuring Neil Levine, of Penalty Entertainment, Joel Feinberg, of de Wolfe Music USA, Diana Aiken of SESAC, and Chris Lakey of Kobalt Music. The panel focused on licensing music for film as well as the steps a film maker must take to acquire music for it's production.

Cast of Aladdin in the Studio

Adam Jacobs was in the studio this past week to record vocals for a single written by Dan and Laura Curtis. Jacobs is a regular on the broadway production of Aladdin and plays the loveable street rat himself! 

After recording for Stacy Swain Management, Adam's sister Arielle Jacobs came in to sing the on "A Whole New World" for Disney. Arielle plays Jasmine on the touring production of Aladdin.

Location Audio for Human Resources Season 3

Seth Granger has been on set as A1 sound recordist with the cast of Human Resources during the production of their third season. 

Human Resources is an unconventional, comedic, behind-the-scenes look at TerraCycle, an innovative recycling company whose mission is to eliminate the idea of waste. The show chronicles the company's corporate and social missions, while documenting the unique and awkward social dynamics amongst its young staff. Human Resources blends environmental innovation with laugh-out-loud comedy into reality TV. 

Location Audio for Six Degrees of Murder

Engineer, Rashid Ramkissoon, has been on set recording location audio for the new television show, Six Degrees of Murder. Ramkissoon has been working with Lion TV to create the new show.

Six Degrees of Murder features case details and reenactments of true crimes. The show is shooting in and around greater New York City. 

Music Tracking for Peg+Cat

The creators of the PBS Kids show, Peg + Cat, had an excellent time recording in our Mezzanine Studio this month. We had the opportunity to work with the music director for the show J. Walter Hawkes, and record a beautiful string quartet.

Peg + Cat is a popular children’s television show based on the book “The Chicken Problem”. The show emphasizes math skills for 3 to 5 year olds and seeks to inspire a child’s natural curiosity.

Dubway had actress Krysta Rodriguez stopped by our studios for some VO work.

Krysta Rodriguez is an American actress and singer, popularly known for her roles as Wednesday Addams in the 2009 Broadway musical The Addams Family and as a regular on the final season of NBC's Smash in 2013. She also appeared on Gossip Girl, Inside Amy Schumer, David Letterman, and Seth Myers.

Location Audio for The Chris Gethard Show

This week Rashid Ramkissoon recorded location audio for The Chris Gethard Show. The show began as a live production at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, and has since then moved to the television channel Fusion. The show features celebrity interviews, audience participation, and oddball characters that has made it a hit around the world. 

Orchestral Tracking for Film with Adam Wachter

Dubway Engineer Chris Abell had the pleasure of working with composer Adam Wachter this past week. Wachter brought in a ten piece orchestra to track original music for film in the Mezzanine Studio.

2016 Daytime Emmy Nominations for Wallykazam!

Wallykazam! is nominated for a 2016 Daytime Emmy! The show has been nominated several categories including Outstanding Pre-School Children's Animated Program, and Outstanding Writing in a Preschool Animated Program.

2016 Daytime Emmy Nominations for Peg + Cat

Peg + Cat is nominated for a 2016 daytime Emmy! The show is nominated for several categories including Outstanding Pre-School Children's Animated Program, Outstanding Music Direction and Composition, and Outstanding Original Song.

Dubway had the opportunity to work PBS Music Supervisor Steven Rebollido, and Music Director J. Walter Hawkes when they come in to record in the Mezzanine for Peg + Cat. Congratulations to our talented friends at PBS! 

Audio Dub for Foreign Film

For the past month several of our engineers have collaborated to dub a foreign film. The three hour film was originally in Mandarin Chinese and dubbed in English. Dubway produced the project, providing script adaptation for lip-sync, casting the VO talent, hiring the director, and supplying all recording and ancillary audio services. 

Recording for the James Altucher Show

Engineer Sam Palumbo got to record for the popular podcast series, the James Altucher Show. The show features different guests each week that have specialized insight into the professional world. Each guest has talked about their successes and how they've achieved them. 

James Altucher is a prominent American entrepreneur. He has helped establish over 20 companies and began podcasting in 2014. 

Mixing for ‘Holler if You Hear Me: Black and Gay in the Church’

Engineer Adrian Thorstensen mixed the critically acclaimed documentary ‘Holler if You Hear Me: Black and Gay in the Church’. The film was written and directed by Clay Cane and had the honor of being screened at the White House for Black History Month in 2016. The film was accompanied by a discussion on race and the LGBTQ community. Holler If You Hear Me has been nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Digital Journalism.

Craig Pallett was the studio last month with a beautiful string quartet. Pallett was recording for his upcoming album of original compositions. The album features a string quartet along with elegant marimba.
