International independent label Obliqsound were
back in the studio, this time with contemporary guitarist, vocalist
and songwriterJohn Shannon. Shannon
has toured the globe with some of the brightest rising stars on
the music scene today across multiple genres including singer/songwriter
Sonya Kitchell and Japanese pianist and composer
Hiromi. This June found him back in the studio
tracking flugelhorn and bass overdubs for a new record to follow
his 2008 debut solo album "American Mystic". Dubway
engineer Mike Judeh tracked the session.
Internet radio station Breakthru Radio (also known
as BTR) were back at Dubway this month with 4 different
bands and interviews. Two bands on the Exit Stencil
label, the hard-rocking Cleveland quartet Hot Cha Cha,
and Ohio rockers Like Bells were tracked and mixed
by Dubway engineer Stephen Schappler with assistant Daniel
Sanint. New York rock quartet Still Water Satellite
also featured on the show and were tracked and mixed by
Mike Judeh and assisted by Daniel Sanint. Finally,
Boston based band Wheat who are currently touring
to support the release of their latest album "White
Ink Black Ink" were tracked and mixed by Mike
Judeh and assisted by Chris Camilleri.

World renowned guitarist and composer Smokey Hormel
tracked rhythm section for an independent project with Dubway
engineer Chris Abell. Hormel's work can be
heard on albums by artists as diverse as Johnny Cash, Beck,
Tom Waits, Neil Diamond, John Doe, Joe Strummer, as well
as on numerous film and television scores including the hit Nickelodeon
series "The Backyardigans."
Returning to its art world roots, Dubway tracked voices for a
rerospective of Ugo Rondinone's work, to be touring
worldwide for the next few years. The.Swiss artist came to Dubway
to track for a conceptual piece with owner/engineer Al Houghton.
Rondinone has spent the last twenty years working
in a diverse range of mediums, including painting, drawing, photography,
video, installation, and sculpture. He is currently showing a
reprise of his 2001 work "Hell, Yes!"
at the New Museum at 235 Bowery.
Composer and pianist Jeff Franzel was at Dubway
producing a piano and vocal session for young singer and actor
Andrew Pandaleon. Franzel's music
has been performed and recorded by artists such as Taylor
Dayne, Shawn Colvin, Clay Aiken and The Temptations
among others. Dubway engineer Daniel Sanint tracked the
session.
Latin guitarist and composer Raf Astor was hard
at work mixing and mastering his latest project with Dubway engineer
Jason Marcucci. Astor has worked with some
of New Yorks finest Latin musicians including John Walsh
- lead trumpet player with Tito Puente, Gene
Perez, and legendary timbales player Jimmy Delgado.

International DJ, writer and producer Tony Moran
came to Dubway to track vocals for his live set with Dubway engineer
Mike Judeh. Tony has torn up dance floors from Tel-Aviv
to Rio de Janeiro, New York to LA and has written and remixed
for artists such as Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson
and Whitney Houston.
Singer/songwriter Genevieve Labean came back to
Dubway to track piano and vocals with engineer Keith Rigling.
The Nature Conservancy hosted a preview reception
at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum celebrating their new
exhibition, "Design for a Living World". Dubway
engineer Mike Judeh oversaw the audio portion of the event,
which featured ten designers and included a salmon skin gown by
designer and host of Bravo's new series "The
Fashion Show," Isaac Mizrahi. The exhibition is now open
to the public and will continue through Jan. 4, 2010.
Latin jazz fusion band Swing en 4 traveled all
the way from Costa Rica to record their 4th full length album
"Jazz Sin Límites" (Jazz Without Limits). In this latest
offering, the acclaimed Latin American group showcase their power
and finesse through modern arrangements of some of Costa Rica's
most beloved folk tunes. This production has received endorsement
from Costa Rica's Ministry of Culture, as a work
of cultural significance to the country. Dubway engineer Daniel
Sanint tracked and mixed the project with his company The
Man From Nowhere.
The Joffrey Ballet School arrived at Dubway to
track piano for an upcoming performance with Dubway engineer Chris
Abell.
Michael McGarril brought his jazz quartet to Dubway
to record a 5 song demo. Dubway engineer Mike Judeh tracked
the session and was assisted by Anthony Velez.
New York singer/songwriter Suzie Zeldin was at
Dubway with her engineer Bryan Russel to track piano
and vocals. Dubway engineer Adam Gold assisted the session.
Dunja was back in the studio after a short break
to continue work on her album project produced by owner/engineer
Al Houghton.
Filmmaker and producer Carlos Velasquez of C
Plus Pictures came back to Dubway to begin mixing his
band BURDEN OF MAN's new album. Carlos' latest film
"The Last International Playboy" which features
music mixed at Dubway by engineer Eric Spring is scheduled
for release in theaters June 12th and is currently being featured
on the apple.com trailers page.
Internet radio station Breakthru Radio (also known
as BTR) were back at Dubway numerous times this
month with 5 different bands all tracked and mixed by Dubway engineer
Mike Judeh. Michigan rock band The Wildfire
were in the studio promoting their new record "Waterbirds",
singer/songwriter and pianist Katia cranked out
a set of 7 tunes on Dubway's 6ft Yamaha, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist
Chase Pagan performed a in support of his new album
"Bells & Whistles" which will be available June
9th. Brooklyn-based rock band Paul and the Patients were
also promoting their new EP "To The Lions" which
was released on American Myth Recordings May 26.

Singer-songwriter Stephanie Nilles returned to
Dubway to track in our yellow room with a horn section, piano,
bass and drums. The tunes, recorded by Dubway engineer Mike
Judeh are for a 12 song EP which the band plan to come back
to mix over the summer.
Californian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Geoff
Ereth came to Dubway to track a 3 song demo with his band
and Dubway engineer Mike Judeh.
Singer and actress Kristi Roosmaa came to Dubway
to record vocal for an audition reel with Dubway engineer Stephen
Schappler.
